Ah.. achoo! Ah, allergies. Spring is beautiful but allergy makes it hard for some of us to enjoy it. Pollen is the suspect. They’re pesky but no worries, there are ways for you to counter them and still be able to enjoy the spring season. The Willamette Valley in Oregon has one of the highest pollen counts in the world. Here is a short audio by Rachel McDonald describing what it’s like.

One patient at Lilac has recommended eating local honey to battle those pesky allergy symptoms. Using a clean spoon to scoop out the honey, eating 1 teaspoon to 1 tablespoon everyday can help relieve the allergy symptoms. Honey does last forever as long as you use a clean, dry spoon to scoop it out every time. Exposing the honey to any sort of moisture (e.g. saliva, water) can cause the honey to crystallize and possible even grow bacteria which spoils it.

Local honey can be bought at places like Life Source or at E.Z. Orchards. Eating a some honey everyday exposes your body to small amounts of pollen which helps your body build an immunization to it. So if the medicine and eye drops aren’t working for you, maybe give honey a try!
