Dr. Gjakova’s career background began within the psychology field. Over a period of 7
years, she has worked in a variety of environments, aiding others with intellectual
disabilities, preschool students, domestic violence and sexual assault survivors, as well
as crisis cases in an inpatient psychiatric hospital.

Helping others has always been a motivating factor for Dr. Gjakova. She attended New
York Chiropractic College, graduating from the chiropractic program in 2017. While
attending school, she received treatment at the college’s health center, discovering the
many benefits of acupuncture. Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and chiropractic
care resonated greatly due to whole-body individualistic approach to one's health and
wellness. While attending graduate school, in 2018, a wonderful opportunity presented
to Dr. Amy to study abroad in Hangzhou, China at the Zhejiang Provincial Hospital
learning from highly experienced TCM practitioners. This experience gave Dr. Gjakova
a lasting impression on how traditional South East Asian medicine and biomedicine can
be integrated into a whole approach care system.

Dr. Amy’s treatment sessions involve a gentler form of care in both chiropractic as well
as acupuncture. When she is not at work, you can find her at the coast enjoying the
ocean with her dog, Calvin. Dr. Amy’s passions include nature, philosophy, learning
other languages, playing piano, essential oils, yoga, riding Clydesdales, bubble tea, and
interacting with animal friends.
